The Temporary Protected Status (TPS)<\/strong> is a program created by the U.S. Congress<\/strong> at 1990<\/strong>. Its objective is to protect people from countries that are going through armed conflicts, humanitarian crises or natural disasters,<\/strong> and that they cannot return safely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to this benefit, Venezuelans who qualify are able to living and working in the United States<\/strong> legally for a certain period of time. However, there is something very important that you should know: the TPS does not give permanent residency<\/strong> nor does it lead directly to citizenship. It is a temporary permit<\/strong> and from time to time the government decides whether to renew or cancel it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In recent years, The United States has granted TPS<\/strong> citizens of different countries, such as El Salvador, Honduras, Haiti, Ukraine and Syria<\/strong>among others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
